A man from La Loche is $200,000 richer after a scratch ticket win.

Sask Lotteries says Alan Janvier of the north west community recently purchased the winning ticket.

Janvier says he believes there was “good karma” involved as he says he had just helped a person experiencing homelessness moments before.

“I was going into the store to buy [a ticket] and there was a panhandler outside,” said Janvier. “I gave him $5 before I went in.”

As for the winnings, Janvier says he wants time to think it over before he decides what he plans to do.

“Honestly, I have no idea,” he said. “I’m not going to rush anything. I’ll leave it alone for a while to think about it.”

Janvier purchased the ticket at Lakeshore Express in La Loche.
