On October 15, 2025 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Turtleford RCMP received a report of a stolen truck in Mervin, SK.

Officers responded and located the truck parked outside a business on Thunderchild First Nation but the truck fled when officers tried to stop them.

On October 16 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Turtleford RCMP received a report of a truck driving erratically on Thunderchild First Nation, matching the description of the truck that had fled from police the day prior.

Officers responded and located the truck parked outside a residence with occupants inside.

When officers approached, the truck fled at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after, the truck entered a field where it became disabled and two occupants from the truck exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby treed area.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services and Critical Incident Response Team were engaged to assist in the search for the suspects.

Officers used a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and observed an individual travelling through the brush.

A police dog tracked the suspects, locating an adult male in the treed area and an adult female at a nearby residence and the male and female were arrested.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a firearm magazine and ammunition.

As a result of continued investigation, 30-year-old Harley Soare from North Battleford is charged with:

  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code.

25-year-old Dakota Frenchman from Thunderchild First Nation is charged with:

  • two counts, resists/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.

Harley Soare and Dakota Frenchman were also arrested on outstanding warrants from Turtleford RCMP.

Harley Soare and Dakota Frenchman appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on October 20, 2025.
