The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is remaining quiet about a forensic audit that brought into question millions of dollars of spending.
This past Friday, reports on an Indigenous Services Canada audit into the organization, over a five-year period, showed $34 million in questionable financial records.
On Monday morning, at an unrelated press conference at the FSIN headquarters, representatives from the organization informed reporters they were only able to ask questions on the topic at hand.
When a reporter asked if this could be considered a “no comment” about the audit, the FSIN representative repeated that questions should remain on topic.
MBC News has also emailed FSN communications for comment, but has not yet received a reply.
ISC has not publicly released the results of the audit and according to some reports the FSIN plans to appeal the findings.
No public statement from the FSIN has yet been made on the audit findings.
