A new pilot program in Pelican Narrows is aiming to create a safer community.
Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation says a new Community Safety Hub in the community is now underway.
PBCN says the hub is designed to bring supports from several different agencies together in one place to prevent crisis before it happens.
The hub is part of an ongoing effort in the community to strengthen safety and wellness as there have been reports of an increase of violence in the community due to drug and gang activity.
“The Hub is about prevention and support,” said Sarah Swan, the Hub Coordinator. “By working together, agencies can respond quickly to families in need while protecting privacy and ensuring solutions are holistic.”
The safety hub is being funded by a five-year grant from Public Safety Canada.
