As wildfire issues in Saskatchewan begin to lessen the Canadian Armed Forces are preparing to return home.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says half of the soldiers deployed to the province were redeployed today (Wednesday) with the remaining soldiers to return to other posts on Friday.

The SPSA says other external supports from Australia and Quebec have also returned home.

Officials say there are currently 49 active wildfires in the province, 8 of which are listed as not contained.

However, many fires of concern have become contained in the past week.

There are also currently no evacuations in the province and officials are hopeful no more evacuations will happen this season.
