Season 11 of the Amazing Race Canada will debut on CTV on Tuesday July 8.
Competing this season is Blair Gladue, who is well-known for his Oilers super fandom in his character Superfan MaGoo.
Gladue will compete on the show with his wife Skylene.
The Oilers superfan, who says he doesn’t go a day without wearing some sort of Oilers gear, says the hardest part about filming the show was missing the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
“If the Edmonton Oilers lost in those first two rounds it was going to be on Superfan Magoo because he wasn’t there,” said Gladue. “But they didn’t… We got back in time for the third and fourth round against Dallas and Florida, so that went over well.”
Gladue says if they do win, him and his wife plan to donate to youth causes.
“When you come from having nothing and then when you get older you have something, you want do something for the youth, and that’s what this cause is all about,” said Gladue.
Gladue says they are bringing the slogan “fer the youth” to the competition.
He also says Oilers’ season tickets would most likely be purchased if they took home the prize money.
As for anyone who is watching the show and dreaming of being on the show, Gladue says to be careful what you wish for.
“Be ready,” he said. “That’s all I could say is be ready – physically, emotionally, mentally because watching it on TV is nothing compared to doing it in real life. It is 10 times harder than what you see on TV.”
While Blair and Skylene won’t be able to wear any Edmonton Oilers gear on the show, their fandom can be seen in their chosen colours of orange and blue.
The premier of Amazing Race Canada Season 11 is on Thursday night.
