From a press release sent out today, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is working closely with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, the Canadian Red Cross and community partners to immediately and safely evacuate more than 45 acute care patients and long-term care residents from the La Ronge Health Centre and care homes in La Ronge as part of the mandatory evacuation of La Ronge.

Patient and resident transfer plans have been developed by SHA’s acute care and long-term care teams to identify where individuals will be transferred, taking into consideration individual care needs and the capacity of the receiving hospitals and care facilities.

At this time, the La Ronge Health Centre remains open for anyone who requires emergency care. As the evacuation of La Ronge proceeds, emergency services will be available at Prince Albert Victoria Hospital if the La Ronge Health Centre is required to close.

The SHA is committed to continued support of those affected by the wildfire situation, and those mobilizing to respond to this difficult situation. We are grateful for the compassion and collaboration of our staff and physicians, Saskatchewan Air Ambulance, Rise Air and our EMS and first responders as they work together to care for those affected.
