It’s been over a year since then-30-year-old Kebo Bear was reported missing to police. He was last seen walking on Pelican Lake First Nation on or around the 22 of January 2024.
Since then, police have followed up on all information received regarding Kebo’s possible whereabouts. Investigators have conducted ground and aerial searches, conducted dozens of interviews and issued multiple pleas to the public to come forward with information.
As a result of these efforts, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch, in conjunction with Spiritwood RCMP, have charged two individuals in relation to his disappearance, which is now being investigated as a homicide.
Theron Thomas, 35, and Ian Carter, 30 – both of Pelican Lake First Nation – have each been charged with one count of manslaughter (Section 236 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada).
Carter made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court yesterday (Information # 90419139). Thomas will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court today (Information # 90460575).
Kebo has not yet been located. The Saskatchewan RCMP is committed to finding him to provide his loved ones with closure.
Members of Kebo’s family provided the following statemen: “Kebo has been missing for a long time, and we want him to come home. We are asking anyone who might know anything about where he is or what happened to please call and say something. Our family misses him every day. He has a mom and dad, brothers and sisters. Most important, he has children who don’t understand what happened and why their dad doesn’t come to see them anymore. Please call and say something if you know anything at all. Our family needs answers and closure. Please help us and Kebo have some rest.”
Someone out there knows where Kebo is or has information that will help us find him. Investigators are asking those individuals to come forward to bring his family answers. We are again sharing his description in case it jogs someone’s memory.
At the time he went missing, Kebo was described as being approximately 5’8” tall, 130 lbs, with brown eyes and black hair in a buzz cut. He has a tattoo of a bear paw on his left arm and a ring tattoo on one of his ring fingers. He has his ears and lip pierced. He was last seen wearing black pants, red shoes, a black hat, and a black leather winter jacket. Attached are several photos of him.
Anyone with information regarding the disappearance or homicide of Kebo Bear is asked to contact the Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP. The public can also report information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
