Wildfires have forced thousands of people in Saskatchewan to leave their homes.
Steve Roberts of the SPSA says a fire response team involving 280 people was forced to retreat from their compound as two wildfires merged near Lower Fishing Lake.
Some public infrastructure was destroyed.
The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation announced an evacuation order for more than 18-hundred people in Pelican Narrows.
Nearly four hundred people have also left Hall Lake.
In the Northwest, Canoe Lake has also evacuated 250 people.
Many evacuees were taken to Saskatoon and Regina although some are staying in Prince Albert.
The evacuees from Canoe Lake were taken to either Lloydminster or Cold Lake.
There are now 17 active wildfires in the province.
The number of fires in the province to this date is significantly higher than last year, with 165 more fires than the same time last year.
