The University of Regina will be awarding four honorary degrees during its spring convocation.

Recipients this year include Russ Mirasty who will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws.

Mirasty is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

He was Saskatchewan’s first Indigenous Lieutenant Governor.

He had a 36-year career with the RCMP and rose to assistant commissioner.

Mirasty has worked to promote reconciliation, community service and bridging gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
