The Prince Albert Grand Council has issued a joint State of Emergency.
A statement was released Wednesday evening by the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
Officials say wildfires have reached over 75,000 hectares in size.
It is expected around 5,500 people will evacuate from communities like Pelican Narrows, Denare Beach, Hall Lake, Southend, and Montreal Lake.
PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte is calling on Premier Scott Moe and the prime minister to implement emergency accommodations.
Hardlotte also wants additional firefighters, water bombers and air support for First Nations communities.
“First Nations lives matter. We stand in full support of this joint declaration and demand a just and immediate response,” said Hardlotte.
Late last night an evacuation was also ordered for the Village of Weyakwin.
A voluntary evacuation has been issued by the Resort Village of Candle Lake.
