On May 10, 2025 at approximately 8 p.m., La Ronge RCMP were on patrol and officers noted a vehicle driving on Bells Point Road that resembled a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the evening.

They attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle did not stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Shortly after, the vehicle proceeded through a stop sign without stopping, then rolled.

Officers arrested the two occupants of the vehicle. They were treated at the hospital for injuries related to the vehicle rollover. The injuries were described to police as non-life-threatening in nature.

As a result of continued investigation, officers located and seized a sawed-off firearm, a butt stock of a firearm, ammunition, a machete, approximately 30 grams of cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Investigation determined one of the vehicle’s occupants was subject to a court-ordered condition that he be in an approved residence 24 hours a day.

As a result of continued investigation, a 21-year-old male and a 38-year-old female, both from the La Ronge area, are each charged with:

– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

– one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;

– one count, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code; and

– one count, occupy a motor vehicle knowing there is a firearm inside, Section 94(1), Criminal Code.

The female is also charged with:

– one count, operate a conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code;

– one count, operation of a conveyance while impaired by drug causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code; and

– one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code.

The male is also charged with:

– two counts, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and

-one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

They were remanded into custody until their scheduled appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on May 12, 2025.
