Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of an animal.
Investigation determined that on May 7, fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency were investigating the cause and origin of a grassfire north of Île-à-la-Crosse.
The fire occurred on May 6 and a deceased animal – believed to be a dog – was discovered in a metal kennel within the fire site.
Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP are investigating the circumstances of the animal being left in the kennel, which was in a bushed, unpopulated area reached by an access road off of Highway #908, approximately 10 kilometres north of Île-à-la-Crosse.
Anyone with information – particularly anyone who has dashcam footage or saw any vehicles in the area – should contact Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP by dialing 310-RCMP.
