As wildfires continue to burn across the north some highways have been closed, the existing fire ban has been expanded, and a smoke advisory has been issued across much of the north.
There are 21 fires burning across the province on Tuesday according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
Monday afternoon Highway 3 south of Prince Albert was closed due to low visibility from smoke.
Other closures included roads in Narrow Hills Provincial Park.
Highway 135 north of Pelican Narrows to Sandy Bay was also closed.
Drivers are advised to check with the Saskatchewan Highways Hotline for the latest road information.
In the meantime, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has also revised its fire ban.
The goal is to prevent any additional human-caused wildfires.
The provincial fire ban now includes all vacant Crown land, Provincial parks located within the provincial forest, and the provincial forest, including the Northern Saskatchewan Administrative District.
All open fires, controlled burns and fireworks are now prohibited.
The SPSA says the majority of the active fires in the province have been caused by human activity.
The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority has also issued a wild fire smoke advisory for much of northern Saskatchewan.
The health authority is advising people in the north central and north east areas of the province to take precautions as smoke from wildfires is affecting those areas.
People are encouraged to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed while there is smoke in the area.
