Construction on an elementary school in La Loche has officially completed.

On Wednesday, the Government of Saskatchewan announced that the build of the Nįtélazёtúë Elementary school in the northwest community has finished.

The province says the school will provide a modern and culturally enriched learning environment for students.

The elementary school is located adjacent to Dene High School and will accommodate around 475 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 6.

The new school has been under construction over the past two years at a price tag of $44.8 million.

“We are proud to announce that the construction of Nįtélazёtúë Elementary School is now complete,” Northern Lights School Division Board Chair Joey McCallum said. “This modern facility, with its enhanced cultural and learning spaces, will benefit our students, staff and families for many years to come.”

The school is scheduled to begin accepting students in September.
