The Buffalo River Dene Nation have voted and have announced their Chief and Council.

The general election wrapped up on Friday February 28, 2025, in the Buffalo River Dene Nation.

This election had two people running for Chief and 14 people running for Council.

Newly elected Chief Kelly Montgrand received 359 votes and Acting Chief Dallas Billette received 168 votes.

From the Chief voting ballots, 9 ballots were rejected.

The five Councilors elected are:

-Debbie Billette receiving 236 votes

-Melissa Margaret Desjarlais (re-elected) receiving 230 votes

-Eric Bekkattla receiving 212 votes

-Julian Sylvestre receiving 202 votes

-Renita Noltcho receiving 195 votes

There were 4 ballots rejected from the Councillor voting ballots.

The newly elected Chief and Council will be in their positions for a three year term.
