A Cree and Mohawk comedic performer has been chosen as the University of Saskatchewan’s next Indigenous Storyteller-in-Residence.

Beginning in February, Shawn Cuthand will spend a three-month tenure promoting Indigenous stories on the university campus.

Cuthand plays many roles in the satirical group known as The Feather News where he takes on both on and off-screen responsibilities. The second season is set to air on APTN in June.

In a conversation with MBC Radio News, Cuthand says he hopes his experience in comedy can bring some levity to his new role at the university.
