Red Pheasant Cree Nation has announced a new strategy to deal with drug and gang activity in the community.

In a release sent to band members, Chief and Council said they have consulted with Elders to address concerns and come up with a solution.

With the guidance and recommendation of Elders, the band says they will now shut off all services to band homes where drug dealing, or gang activity is confirmed. Additionally, homes where services have been shut off will be boarded up pending the reallocation of the band home.

RPCN leadership stated that they are committed to ensuring the community is safe for all members and free of drug dealing and gang involvement. The band said that this is the first step the community will take to realize that goal.

The new strategy is now being enforced in the community.
