An investigation is now underway after a death at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre.
In a media release sent out Friday afternoon the Ministry of Corrections said a 24-year-old woman died Thursday at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.
The province said the inmate was found unresponsive on a living unit and was then taken to hospital.
The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections said they are also conducting an internal review.
Foul play is not currently suspected.
The deceased woman’s family has been notified.
