Jim Lemaigre has again secured the SaskParty nomination in the northwest constituency of Athabasca.

Lemaigre was acclaimed Wednesday, following a nomination meeting Wednesday.

“I am humbled by the support I’ve received during my time as MLA for Athabasca,” Lemaigre said. “It’s an honour to represent you in our Legislature, and I will continue working hard to earn your support in the next election.”

Lemaigre, of the Clearwater River Dene Nation and fluent in the Dene Language speaker was elected MLA for Athabasca during a byelection in 2022.

He currently serves as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Government Relations as well as the Legislative Secretary responsible for Mental Health and Addictions to the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

The New Democrats have yet to announce a candidate for Athabasca. A provincial election is scheduled for next year.
