A teen charged with first-degree murder of La Ronge resident Jennifer Hendry has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder.

The teen, who cannot be identified, was to stand trial this week, but entered the plea in court Tuesday.

According to media reports, the teen entered Hendry’s home on January 8, 2022, intending to burglarize her.

The teen, armed with a hatchet, burst into Hendry’s bedroom in the early morning hours, striking her in the head with the weapon.

The teen was arrested three-days later. Sentencing could take place next summer.
