Saskatchewan is not requesting additional resources to help fight wildfires, as concern over a blaze north of La Loche has forced the second evacuation of vulnerable residents.

The Canadian Armed Forces are being deployed to Nova Scotia and Alberta to assist crews there.

Steve Roberts, Vice President of Operations with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency said military personnel will not be coming here.

He admits the province has not put a formal request for additional crews or equipment, rather checking the availability.

Yet provincial firefighters have been working steady for the past few weeks, to contain and extinguish several wildfires especially in the North.

Roberts concedes that more help may be needed to give Saskatchewan crews a break. Crews here have been mainly dispatched to the northwest, but new fires are appearing in the northeast, near La Ronge and Deschambault Lake which are causing concern.

There are 20 active wildfires, with seven not being contained.
