A Coroner’s inquest has been scheduled into the death of a man at Victoria Hospital who was in custody of the Prince Albert police.

30-year-old Jordan Norfield died in hospital on December 5, 2020.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance while he was in custody of police.

Saskatchewan’s Chief Coroner is mandated to call an inquest into any in-custody death as unless the coroner feels the death was due entirely to natural causes and was not preventable.

The inquest will look at the circumstances around Norfield’s death and a jury will have an option to make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.

The inquest will begin on June 26 at the Coronet Hotel.
