A man from Saskatoon has been criminally charged for comments he allegedly made about Megan Gallagher.

Gallagher, a Metis woman from Saskatoon, was killed in 2020 and her body was found in the South Saskatchewan River near the town of St. Louis in September of this past year.

9 people have been accused in relation to her death with their matters at various stages in the court process.

Now Robert Gordon faces a criminal charge, not in relation to her death, but for comments he allegedly made online.

According to Megan’s father Brian Gallagher, the comments were made online under the announcement for Megan’s funeral service.

The charges come from a section of the criminal code that it is unlawful to make an indecent comment with the intent to alarm.

Gordon was briefly in court Wednesday afternoon on the matter.

A crown prosecutor indicated they are proceeding by indictment on the charge, so if convicted Gordon faces a possible two year prison sentence.

His matter was adjourned to a March 16th as he attempts to acquire a lawyer.
