Big River RCMP are releasing more information about the investigation of a suspicious death.
RCMP said this past Wednesday they were called to a trail area on Big River First Nation about a dead person. Police are now identifying the deceased person as 30-year-old Lionel Whitehead of Pelican Lake First Nation. The victim’s name is being released in hopes members of the public will contact police about any interactions or sightings of Whitehead since September 30.
Police are also asking the public to report any possible sightings of a white 2017 1500 truck with the license plate 964 HHA in the same time frame. The truck was stolen from Pelican Lake First Nation between the evening of September 30 and the morning of October 3, the vehicle was found near the same trail where Whitehead was found.
The truck may may have been in Pelican Lake First Nation, Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and Big River First Nation during the same time period.
