Another person has been charged in relation to the disappearance and death of Megan Gallagher.

Gallagher went missing in Saskatoon two years ago. Since that time, 2 people have arrested and charged with first-degree murder and 4 others have been arrested and charged with indignity to human remains in relation to her disappearance and death.

Police now say 42-year-old Thomas Sutherland was arrested Tuesday, while in jail on another matter, and has been charged with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault.

This brings the total number of people charged to seven.

Sutherland had his first court appearance in Saskatoon on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, police say dedicated search efforts are underway for the remains of Gallagher in the South Saskatchewan River near the community of St. Louis.

The 4 day search efforts will begin on Thursday with the help of a forensic anthropologist and the Water Security Agency.

The public is asked to avoid the area while the investigation is underway.

However, police continue to seek any relevant information in the investigation, which can be given to the SPS directly at 306-975-8300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
