A search for a missing mushroom picker is underway in northeast Saskatchewan.

74-year-old Lois Chartrand went missing Thursday morning while picking mushrooms along the Hanson Lake Road 30 kilometres north of Smeaton.

RCMP say they have been in spotty contact with Chartrand through a radio, last having contact on Friday morning. However, they say they have been unable to locate her.

Police also say heavy rain and thunderstorms in the region have hindered search efforts.

Members from several RCMP detachments and units are assisting in the search.

Authorities are also asking anyone who has extensive knowledge of the region to join in the search. There is a command post set-up along the highway near where Chartrand went missing. Anybody wishing to help in the search is asked to sign in there.

If anyone sees Lois Chartrand they are asked to call 911 immediately.
