The tri-community area has been named Saskatchewan’s most active community.

La Ronge, Air Ronge, and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band were able to log over 330 hours of physical activity for the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge.

As the province’s winner, the community will now receive $15,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives.

“Congratulations to the community of La Ronge for being named Saskatchewan’s most active community,” Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport Laura Ross said. “Everyone wins when our communities are more physically active.”

During the month of June community members from the Tri-Community area were able to participate in logging hours on several different activities.  The final total was 333 hours.

“We are proud of the efforts across the Tri-Community to promote physical activity in all aspects of life,” Community Services Manager Connor Tessier said. “Our volunteers and organizations worked hard to offer as many diverse opportunities as possible throughout June.”

The national winner of the challenge was Red Deer, Alberta who will receive a $100,000 prize.
