The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is condemning the truckers convoy protesting COVID-19 restrictions and mandates in Ottawa.

Videos online have surfaced of traditional drums being played and people who aren’t chiefs wearing Indigenous headdresses.

The FSIN says they strongly oppose the actions of the protesters who are appropriating Indigenous culture.

Chief Bobby Cameron stated in a news release, “Not only are these protesters risking lives and spreading false information, but they’re also disrespecting our tradition drums, pipes and medicines.”

Cameron said the convoy is insulting to the entire Indigenous community.

Pop-up protests in support of the convoy have been occurring throughout the country all week.
