Two people people from North Battleford have been arrested and charged after an apartment building in the city caught fire.

Fire fighters, RCMP and EMS responded to the structural fire early Monday morning, evacuating all 17 residents from the burning building.

22-year-old Keeanu Crookedneck and 42-year-old Naomi Jean Yellowtail have been charged with arson with disregard for human life as well as other charges.

The 17 residents, along with six emergency crew members, were transported to hospital and all have since been released.

Yellowtail was scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday while Crookedneck is to appear Friday.

According to RCMP, the displaced occupants of the building will be provided emergency support services by the Canadian Red Cross.
