Four people have been arrested after a drug bust on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.

On Wednesday morning, RCMP say officers attempted to stop a “suspicious” vehicle.

According to the RCMP, the vehicle fled from officers down a trail before becoming stuck in deep snow.

Four individuals were arrested and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of several different drugs including 41 grams of Crystal Meth, 50 grams of Cocaine, and 1.2 grams of fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation, Omar Csurdi, Hosanna Lachance, Tye Sandfly, and Iesha Csurdi, all of Cold Lake, AB, face several charges including drug trafficking.

Omar Csurdi and Hosanna Lachance were remanded and will be in court in Meadow Lake on Monday.  Tye Sandfly and Iesha Csurdi are due in court in Pierceland on February 15.

“Thanks to the vigilance of the community, we were able to keep a significant amount of illicit drugs off local streets. Consider the 41 grams of crystal methamphetamine seized – that is the equivalent of approximately four hundred individual doses,” said Cpl. David Horton of the Pierceland RCMP in a media release on the bust. “These community-police partnerships are so important to overall community safety.”

Big Island Cree Nation is located west of Meadow Lake near the Alberta border.
