A 53-year-old inmate at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre died Thursday evening after being found unresponsive in his cell.

Once found, corrections staff and EMS tried to perform life-saving measures on the man.

According to a press release, the death is not related to COVID-19 and foul play is not suspected at this time.

The Prince Albert Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are both investigating.

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is also conducting an internal investigation.
