An employment training agency is receiving provincial and federal money to help Northern Indigenous job seekers improve their skills to obtain work.

Northern Career Quest Inc is getting approximately $2 million to facilitate training programs for approximately 400 Indigenous people in the Prince Albert Grand Council and Meadow Lake Tribal Council regions.

“This programming expands our previous mandate beyond just the resource sector, enabling us to work with Indigenous folks in more diversified areas of training and employment,”Northern Career Quest Inc. CEO Steve Innes said.

“The Northern Career Quest Inc. programming will provide Indigenous participants with the necessary training, in-demand skills and support that will result in employment opportunities,” said Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison.

In the past five years, Northern Career Quest Inc., has trained over 1200 Indigenous job seekers, with more than 1100 obtaining work.
