The Grand Chief of the Prince Albert Grand Council confirmed Coreen Sayazie as the elected chief of Black Lake Denesuline First Nation.
During his opening remarks at the PAGC assembly on Monday morning, Chief Brian Hardlotte officially acknowledged Sayazie as chief of Black Lake and congratulated her on her win.
The byelection for chief was held this past week after late chief Archie Robillard died in August.
A memorial for the late chief is set to take place at the PAGC assembly on Monday afternoon.
