Former Metis-Nation Saskatchewan president Robert Doucette has been officially defeated in last night’s election.

Robert Doucette was running for the NDP against Conservative Brad Redekopp in the Saskatoon-West riding.

It was an incredibly close race throughout the night and the only riding that was too close to call as the election went late into the night.

There were around 2000 mail-in ballots still to be counted, so even as Redekopp took an over 500 vote lead it was still too close to cole.

However, as the polls continued to be counted early into Tuesday morning Redekopp took enough of a lead to be declared the winner.

Redekopp’s win makes another Conservative sweep in the province official.
