Evacuations continue today for residents of Southend. Two convoys are set to leave from the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Administration Office at 10 AM and 11 AM.

“Members will be evacuated due to a fire threat close to the community. Community members are asked to register at the Band Office. Please register even if you refuse to leave the community or want to go out to the lake to your cabin, we need you to register,” Chief Karen Bird said.

The evacuation of priority residents began Sunday evening; including elders.

The Red Cross is arranging accommodations in Saskatoon as hotels in Prince Albert are full. Residents are asked to meet at the Parkland Hall.

At the same time, many people from Dillon and St. George’s Hill have been evacuated.

The Mason Fire is burning approximately 8 KM north of Little Flatstone Lake. Air resources are battling the Dillon Fire.
