La Ronge’s Scattered Site Outreach Program, operated by the Kikinahk Friendship Centre, won’t be providing their overnight shelter or extended hours for the coming winter season.

The Centre announced this in a letter addressed to tri-community leadership earlier this month.

The decision comes from a lack of funding and infrastructure dollars according to the letter.

The Outreach Program usually opens an overnight shelter program once the temperatures start to cool in late fall.

In the letter, they explain they understand the importance of the program in the community and say they are available to provide guidance and assistance if requested.
