The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations says hundreds of unmarked graves have been discovered on the site of a former residential school in southeast Saskatchewan.

The organization says the unmarked graves are on the grounds of the former Marieval Indian Residential School which is in the Qu’Appelle Valley, north of Broadview.

The information was included in a media advisory sent out by the FSIN Wednesday afternoon.

The organization and the Cowessess First Nation will hold a virtual press conference Thursday morning to address the discovery.

The discovery of 215 unmarked graves of children was also recently discovered on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.
