RCMP says two people are dead, following a head on crash west of Prince Albert Monday afternoon on Highway 3.

Mounties say the preliminary investigation reveals an eastbound car collided head-on with a westbound truck after the eastbound car pulled into the westbound lane.

The two people in the car, a 30-year-old man from Prince Albert, and a 4-year-old boy from Parkside were declared dead at the scene.

Two people in the truck were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 3 was closed for several hours, after police needed to reconstruct the crash.
