Cameco said an individual at its Cigar Lake facility in Northern Sask. has tested positive for COVID-19.

“This individual has been in isolation since November 22,” said Jeff Hryhoriw, Director Government Relations and Communications for Cameco.

Two others were identified as close contacts and have tested negative.

“One who is still on-site and was immediately isolated, and one who is now off-site and who also isolated.  Both close contacts have now tested negative,” Hryhoriw said.

Contact tracing is now complete.

Hryhoriw said enhanced safety operations are being undertaken at all operations and that the single positive case is not expected to impact operations at Cigar Lake.
