The SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs are postponing hockey activities.

“The Melfort Mustangs and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League are postponing this weekend’s games between Melfort and Battlefords due to a COVID-19 exposure,” a news release issued Monday stated.

The release also says the player in question is isolating and the organization is following all of the protocols from the health authorities.

The Mustangs took on the La Ronge Ice Wolves at the Mel Hegland Uniplex Friday and the Ice Wolves skated away with a 3-1 victory.

The Ice Wolves were supposed to travel to Melfort Saturday for the conclusion of the home-and-home series, but the contest was postponed and no further details were provided by the league or the Mustangs at the time.

“The Saturday, November 21st game between Melfort and La Ronge was also postponed due to the same COVID-19 exposure,” said the news release Monday.

The Mustangs say they can resume hockey activities Nov. 29 and they will not be making any further comments on this situation.
