The Chief of the Kawacatoose First Nation is sending words of encouragement after seven band members confirmed positive for COVID-19.

“We need to stick together in this. We can be pointing fingers or getting mad even though we want to because we’ve got to stick together because we’re not the only First Nation now there’s lots out there that are going through this,” said Chief Tom Dustyhorn.

The First Nation has entered into a total lockdown for this week, as it tries to slow the spread of the virus.

Chief and Council have shuttered the administration offices and local stores.

The only people working on the reservation are essential workers. 105 people have been tested on the First Nation.

Dustyhorn is advising people to stay within your bubble and limit your exposure to others.
