The Far North is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases.

The province reports Thursday that the Far North West has three new cases, bring the active total to five.

The Far North East has two new cases.

The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation reported an outbreak of four cases Wednesday in two communities, prompting a lockdown of the entire First Nation.

Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer says the Far North can expect more COVID-19 cases, following an outbreak at recent church gatherings in Prince Albert.

Public health officials say the multi-jurisdictional community transmitted outbreak is traced to several Full Gospel Outreach events September 14th to October 4th.

Dr. Saqib Shahab says there are six confirmed cases related to this event and five under investigation.

18 new cases in Saskatchewan Thursday with 13 recoveries.
