Construction is underway for the new band office at Cumberland House Cree Nation.
A sod-turning ceremony was held this week.
The new facility will replace the previous band office, which was destroyed by fire last December.
The new office will house the band’s financial services, administrative chambers and day care facilities. Construction on the 15,000-square-foot building is expected to take five months.
The two-storey building features high-efficiency heating and ventilation systems.
