The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Red Earth Cree Nation, following a wedding October 9.

Public health officials said Wednesday that several people who attended the event have tested positive for the virus. The event took place at Natimeek.

NITHA recommends that anyone who attended the wedding to immediately self-isolate for 14-days and to call HealthLine 811 or their community health clinic to arrange for assessment and testing if experiencing symptoms.

All others are asked to monitor yourself for two weeks. Contact tracing is underway.

On Sunday NITHA reported that individuals, who were tested in Red Earth contracted the virus. They were tested Oct. 8.
