RCMP say two people are dead after a shooting incident in Candle Lake over the weekend.

Officers say they were called to a residence on Industrial Drive shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday night with a report of a male who had been shot.

There they found a 14-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds who was declared deceased at the scene.

Mounties say a 49-year-old male suspect who was armed with a firearm assaulted a female occupant of the residence.

A struggle ensued and another male occupant was successfully able to disarm the suspect and he fled the scene.

Other occupants of the residence sustained minor injuries.

Police tracked the suspect to a residence on Steen Place in Candle Lake.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday morning he was found dead inside the residence from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
