A 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Brett Mckay on the Red Earth Cree Nation early Friday morning.

RCMP say the the 24-year-old McKay was found unresponsive and later pronounced deceased at a residence on the First Nation around 5:45 a.m. after being stabbed.

Police say McKay had been at a large social gathering in an open area called “the reservoir” hours before where he had been injured and later dropped off at the home.

Richard Flett was arrested Sunday night in relation to the incident.

Red Earth is located about 225 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert.
