RCMP says a 44-year-old woman, who was camping in a remote lake north of Buffalo Narrows was attacked and killed by a black bear Thursday evening.
Police say the woman was camping with two children and a man near McKie Lake, approximately 150 kilometres north of that community.
The unidentified victim was flown from that location, where she was pronounced dead in Buffalo Narrows.
Police, the coroner and the Ministry of Environment are conducting investigations into the attack. The bear was destroyed at the scene.
This is the first fatal bear attack in the province since 1983.
