The La Ronge Ice Wolves selected seven players at the SJHL Bantam Draft in June.
With the 20th overall pick in the second round, the Ice Wolves drafted defenceman Evan Pinel from Pilot Butte.
“I’m a big body defenceman, I play a pretty physical game,” said Pinel. “I got a pretty good shot from the point and shut down guys defensively. I also play on the power play.”
Pinel had 24 points in 29 games during the 2019-20 campaign with the Prairie Storm U15 AA team.
“We had a pretty good team this year and it was a pretty fun season,” said Pinel. “We got to go to some big tournaments this year. I was looking forward to seeing how far we could go in the playoffs.”
Pinel has his sights set on cracking a U18 AAA team for the 2020-21 campaign.
