Mark Williment has earned the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) North Central District Service Award.

Williment, who is the superintendent of education with the Northern Lights School Division, has been heavily been involved with the Northern Saskatchewan Football League.

“Obviously, it is a source of pride to be recognized for the work I’ve been involved in,” said Williment.

Gabe Andrews is the football coach for the Churchill Chargers in La Ronge. Andrews was one of the people who nominated Williment for the award.

“Without Mark’s leadership, guidance and taking on the role of an official, football for the youth of northern Saskatchewan would not be where it is today,” said Andrews while speaking in a SHSAA video. “He has provided an avenue for the youth to gain confidence, have hope for their future, connect with youth in other communities, develop sportsmanship and to show that football is more than a game.”

In addition to this latest honour, Williment also picked up an award from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2019.
